A couple of interesting articles here...

First, an idiot who reckons a £2 stake for a £150 jackpot is the answer

And a well reasoned blog as to why it isn't...

AWPs have had their day as we all know. Gamblers won't play them as the odds are shit and the prize too low. Casuals won't play them because the stakes are too high to get any decent game both be change.

It'll go one of two ways. Gambling machines will disappear from pubs completely, or they'll get FOBTs. I suspect it'll be the former.

I put £20 into wish upon a jackpot £100 version earlier while waiting for someone to pick me up and I walked away with £80. Fucking games!!

Although I feel like I’ve sold my soul to the devil now

The future is much like the present, only longer.

Well you certainly don't get anywhere just spinning on 25p unless you're OB.

Report is out

https://www.gov.uk/government/consultati...y-measures

So far I'm a few pages in

"Scientific / Inspired Gaming feel that they need to maintain their status quo" lolol

Also, that all the annoying self regulation stuff they introduced (on screen messages about spend/duration) has had bugger all effect and actually led to an INCREASE in higher stakes betting between £40 - £50!

While the industry proposes increases to the remaining stakes and prizes, and permitted numbers and allocations across other categories of machine (B1, B3, B3A, B4, C and D gaming machines), we believe retention of the current regulatory environment will better protect players from potential harm than industry’s proposed increases.

The one change I would make is allow unlimited JP on casino machines. Leave them £5 mad by all means.

That means we could have non-gimped versions of loads of games.

There's loads we probably don't get due to having to rejig the maths (if only slightly) to fit in with capped wins.

When the government will happily fuck the NHS to the tune of billions a year. A 6-700 million hit for the bookies should be disregarded. Put some 35 jp fruits back in! Used to love going in the local ladbrokes when I was younger, have a coffee and a natter with the old boys. Now there are too many smelly bastards punching screens.

I dunno why the industry wanted £2 stake, ridiculous for pub machines! As they said at some point in that document in brings them in line with b3 stake (at a lower rtp) machines which aren’t allowed in pubs so doesn’t make any sense!
