Can anyone tell me why Long Run shouldn't win?

May finish 2nd, Burton Port will win! Breathing operation done, finished half a length 2nd to Long Run back in 2012, but reported in great form. 33-1 is monster value EW

Backed Burton Port for the Hennessy a few years back. Good engine but looked slow last time.

Apparently needed a wind op (seems a more and more common thing nowadays). Heard plenty of positives knocking about from within a few circles also backing it each way as well. Aparently been schooled over national fences really well. If it gets the distance and keeps out of trouble, then could be there on the run in.

Quite a classy renewal this year. I'll end up backing 4 or 5 but I have to say that Shakalakaboomboom is a standout for me at 33's. Very low key prep with this in mind. Pretty low mileage for a 10 year old and jumped round safely in 2012. The only niggling worry for me would be that there isn't much proof he's the same horse as he was. However, I'm not totally convinced he has been 'trying' that hard so far this term, again with this race in mind. If he retains the same ability he must go close with a clear round off 9lb lower.

Had a few quid on it also, 9lb over that Aintree course is a high pull

Agreed, Shapesy. He is certainly not a negative over these fences.

I think I might have a bit each way on Burton Port too, 25/1 may still be a decent bet. I had a small ante post punt each way on the rainbow hunter, I think I got around 50/1. Kim Bailey still thinks he's a value bet at 33/1. The race is a bit of a lottery so I never bet a lot.

I backed Tranquil Sea at 100s but he isn't going to get in I don't think

Yeah, only an outside chance for Tranquil Sea making it I think which is a shame cos he's a proven stayer unlike some others further up the weights who have a slim-zero chance of getting the trip yet qualify easily because of a handicap mark gained over 20 furlongs.

Does anyone fancy doing the tipping comp again for Aintree?

He has been backed though into 33s so maybe some of the 7 above him are doubtful?

Not too busy, no. It's a great day out although Friday is better for crowds, especially the "ladies." Don't expect too many clothes!
